HOW DO YOU THINK WE ARE DOING?

As the parents of the children who currently attend Rotherfield Village Pre-school, we always welcome and value your feedback as to how we are performing.

Please use our Feedback Form and let us know what we do well, and what we could potentially do better.

As an organisation, Rotherfield Village Pre-school would, as standard, prefer not to have to express any sort of political agenda.  However, with the current media interest and government promises regarding the 30 ‘free’ hours childcare rollout in September 2017, we feel that we need to give our parents further insight as to why many early years settings are concerned about the impact on their businesses.

We have long been under funded (by about £0.90/ child/ hour on our running costs) for the current 15 hours of childcare the Government provides, but the additional 15 hours is an untenable situation.

The pre-school is a ‘not for profit charity’ and thus our aim is to cover the overheads and pay our wonderful staff for the job they do.  Sadly, we would be unable to do either if we were to start having to offer the 30 hours. In this instance, ‘free’ does not mean free; it means that organisations such as ours would be subsidising the government’s offer, to the long term detriment of our business.

The short video above gives a very simple but clear picture of why so many pre-schools, nurseries and childminders are unable to offer the proposed ‘free’ childcare.

We are 3 x Ofsted OUTSTANDING!
