LETTER FROM THE

CHAIR OF THE PRE-SCHOOL COMMITTEE

Autumn 2011

Firstly, can I say a belated welcome to all of the new children and parents that joined us in September and we hope that you are all settling in well.  It is lovely to see new faces in the lobby and to hear that all the new children are enjoying finding their way.  It is such a big step for little ones and parents alike but we have such a wonderful pre-school and the staff do the most amazing job at making everyone feel so welcome and this does help immensely.  Thank you Vicki and staff, you are all fantastic.

As Vicki mentioned in her letter, we have some Hello’s and Goodbye’s to say.  Firstly, welcome to Ginny and Daisy.  We are so excited that you are joining our team and wish you lots of fun and laughter with the children.  It is with a slight but happy sigh that two of our key members,  Becky and Emma are leaving the committee and I (we) would like to say a massive thank you for all that you have done for the pre-school whilst you have been on the committee, you will both be very missed. Having said that you still have little ones at pre-school so no doubt you will be helping out at up and coming events so we have not lost you completely!

I would also like to take this opportunity to update you all on a few changes to the pre-school.  The committee and staff have been discussing the possibility of Incorporating.  In brief, one of the mums, Abbie, has very kindly offered her legal services and expertise in this area and therefore we feel that this option is a very viable and practical one.  We are also making a few changes to our constitution.  Both of these proposed changes will be discussed at our next committee meeting and then voted for and agreed at our AGM in November/December – date to be decided.

I hear that the recent visit from Zoolab was a huge success and I am also so pleased that the children are enjoying Fridays visit from the lovely people at the Forest School Project.  The Badgers and Hedgehogs have learnt about leaves, trees, markings, charcoal, insects etc and I do enjoying hear updates from my very own “little” badger.

The committee and Vicki are still looking at grants and fund raising, of which we have an event just around the corner (Pampered Chef 9th November) with more to be confirmed, so please keep a look out for emails as we would love it if you could join in.  It is not only a great way to meet other parents and make great friends but also support the pre-school as all money raised goes towards new equipment, books and toys for the pre-school.

Here’s to another great autumn and if there is anything you wish to discuss, bring up, suggest or join in on please do not hesitate to have a natter with myself, Vicki or anyone member of staff as we love any input and that is one of the key successes to our wonderful pre-school.
