PRE-BUILD

Rotherfield Village Pre-school has been operating out of the War Memorial Hall for almost 40 years. However, times have changed and we have now outgrown the building which we share with many other users. Our need for outside space and a building suitable for pre-school children means we now need a new building.

We have already secured a grant from East Sussex County Council to build a brand new purpose built facility on Rotherfield Recreation Ground but need more funds to fully equip the building and the outside space.

Please support us by Sponsoring a brick. Cheques are payable to Rotherfield Pre-School Playgroup, our address is Memorial Institute, North St, Rotherfield, East Sussex TN6 3NE.

Thanking you in advance for your generous sponsor. Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact Jackie Domanski on 07899 751 655 or Elaine Fraser on 07977 270 460

LOCATION OF NEW PRE-SCHOOL ON ROTHERFIELD RECREATION GROUND

The red arrow points to a building which is to be removed and replaced by the new Pre-School building.

Rotherfield Recreation Ground is situated in North Street, opposite the Primary School.  The Recreation Ground is made up of two fields, the upper field nearest the road and the lower, surrounded by farmland with views across the  Jarvis Brook valley towards Crowborough.

The new Pre-School building is to be built where the track descends to the lower field, behind the Scout Hut.  The Scout Hut is located behind the Village Hall on the left hand side of the Recreation Ground viewed from the entrance on North Street.

Below there are pictures of some of the architects plans. A few slight changes have been made since these plans were drawn up but the main structure and layout will be as shown.

Friday 14th May 2010

At 8am this morning, Vicky and Alison met with the Builders, County Council and Parish Council to discuss the new build. The builders are to be on site from Monday 24th May but there maybe people seen working around the area before this, concerning the removal of the existing storage building and preparing the site.  It is a 24 week build and therefore should be finished in November.  Although a lot later than we originally planned, we are looking to have the new pre-school open for business from January, giving us time to move from the old building to the new and to ensure a smooth transition for all children and staff.  We will keep you posted of any developments.

We are going to make the most of this fantastic opportunity, taking regular trips to the Rec to view the site with the children and see what is going on and maybe meeting some of the people involved with the building.  We anticipate the children (and staff!) being rather excited about seeing the diggers!   The ‘Bob the builder’ toys and the sand tray will no doubt be requested by the children on many occasions!  We have been informed that July is going to be an exciting time, as this will be when the frame arrives and the building will very quickly ‘grow’ and start to take shape.

Please be rest assured, parents, that the builders are experienced at working on school sites and are used to having children visiting, although we mostly intend to view the site from a safe distance rather than be ‘on site’.  Safety will be of up most importance.  We do however appreciate the children coming to pre-school in appropriate clothing for going outside whatever the weather.  Please don’t forget suitable footwear, warm clothing, sun hats and sun-cream (to be applied before coming in the morning).
