WEEK 10 - Monday 26th July - Friday 30th July

Monday 26th July 2010

The builders are preparing for more brick work to clad the outside of the frame.  Stacks of bricks can be seen at various points around the building.

Thursday 29th July 2010

Our choices of colours for the flooring, carpets and paint for the walls have finally been decided, and after a few more emails and phone calls, submitted and approved by Steven, our architect.  It has been great fun deciding but rather daunting when we’ve only got small samples to choose from and we’re trying to imagine what a whole room looks like in it!

The exterior wall brick cladding is still underway.  Also, the roof for the covered entrance area is currently being put up.

WEEK 11 - Monday 2nd August - Friday 6th August

Tuesday 3rd August 2010

The outside of the building on the side nearest the Rec is much the same, although the brickwork cladding looks to be near competition on the side nearest the Scout Hut.  The hedge side of the building is all brick clad, so doubt much of the work being done cannot be seen at present.  Thanks to a good zoom on the camera, we can see that the under floor heating system is being laid this week.

Friday 6th August 2010

Work on the roof is being done - the first stages of making the wooden frame of the roof waterproof.

WEEK 12 - Monday 9th August - Friday 13th August

Monday 9th August 2010

Further work to the roof is being done and also the floor inside, covering the under floor heating pipes and levelling it.  The roof for the covered outside play area is underway too.

Thursday 12th August 2010

Tomorrow we have our next 4 weekly progress meeting, so more information coming up soon.  This also marks our half way point in the build.

Friday 13th August 2010

Gillian attended the Progress Meeting this morning.  Having been presented with a high visibility jacket and hard hat on arrival, took the opportunity to look round the site and take photos.  Here are the first internal pictures!

Another 9hrs of work has been lost due to heavy rainfalls in the last couple of weeks, but despite this, there are no further significant delays on the build which means we are still set for a finishing date of 5th November.  The roof, brickwork and under floor heating is complete.  There is a delay on the windows, but internal works can carry on instead, so this shouldn’t effect the long term time schedule.  The arrival date for the windows is now the first week of September which will then be followed by the cladding of the external walls.  The electricians have been in this week and soon the plumbers will be in to do their work.

WEEK 9 to 12

WEEK 9 - Monday 19th July - Friday 23rd July

Thursday 22nd July 2010

Not much has changed to the external view of the building although the roof looks more complete.  Work on site yesterday was very quiet and when the children went to have a look, the children were demanding ‘Where are all the builders!’.  Norman, the site manager was there to talk to them though!  The scaffolding lorries are back today.

Vicky, Fiona and Gillian met this afternoon to talk to Steven the Architect.  We now have the massive, but exciting task, of choosing the colours of paint for ceiling, walls, skirting, floor covering, work tops and units, children’s WC cubicles, tiles, and even the decking outside!

Friday 23rd July 2010

Following our meeting yesterday with the Architect, Vicky, Fiona and Gillian met this morning to decide on the colours.  We think we are nearly there!  We are now just waiting for some samples of the flooring for the lobby, then we can submit our choices.
