Supporting Your Child at Home

Building Skills at Home

Families play an important role in supporting their child’s learning at home through simple, everyday moments. Sharing a book each day helps develop language, sparks imagination, and nurtures a love of stories. Encourage your child to talk about the pictures and guess what might happen next.

Having small conversations during daily activities, such as noticing things together on a walk, also builds confidence and vocabulary; you could name objects, describe colours, or listen for different sounds. Revisiting and using the vocabulary we introduce at pre-school helps children recognise and understand new words in a range of situations. These small, regular interactions can have a big impact on your child’s development.

Our Borrow Bags

We have created a range of “borrow bags” that you are welcome to take home and use with your child. Each bag focuses on a different topic, including potty training, starting school, bereavement, and teeth brushing.

Inside, you will find information on where to access support from external professionals, as well as books to share with your child and a variety of related activities.
